As a First-year teacher, these supplies will help build our classroom into a community of learners and to transition students into a new environment which they hopefully see as their second home. The iPad can give us access to knowledge and information without having to leave the classroom as there are restrictions to the trips we bring the students on due to their age and size. These supplies will help our classroom become a safe a caring environment with some basic supplies to help develop their minds and bodies. These snacks will help address students basic needs so that they are ready for learning. The iPad technology will also be used to expand learning and integrate a virtual learning platform, capture student performance, assist with behavior management, serve as a differentiation tool for a range of learners and track the progress of individual students. In addition the iPad can be used to enhance language acquisition through quick translations, visual representation as well as auditory assistance for many of our English language learners as well as those in the emergent stage of literacy. The timer will help students understand the abstract concept of time and with transitions. The label maker and name tags serve to ensure each child has a space or two of their very own within the classroom as well as providing a print rich environment to support emergent literacy skills. The paper trimmer will serve to customize paper to fit the need of the project whether it be for finger painting, watercolor, or collage and can serve as assisted technology for students who may need extra help due to motor development. Lastly, the magic eraser will serve to send the message to students that it is ok to make mistakes.
