I like to describe my French classroom as "la petite maison dans la prairie" as it sits on the edge of the Koter vegetable garden, pond and prairie. When you arrive at my door, there is a giant picture of the Eiffel Tower on it. So, when you walk in, the tone is already set, you are in Paris, you are in France! I have a baker's rack with French realia and 2 areas that accommodate my younger students (rug for circle time) and the older ones (25 individual tables in groups 5, facing a SmartBoard). Near the rug, I have shelves with books from France as well as bilingual books and famous American authors translated into French. My students love to read and discover various genres and various prints (magazines, newspapers, picture books, comics and chapter books) in French. Finally, I have a yellow folding table and chairs for our "Cafe scene". This is where my students do a lot of their role-play presentations.
