Most of our students are emerging bilinguals, and are also developing literacy skills in English. I would like to support the transfer of linguistic and literacy skills through a biliteracy club which will meet after school in the spring. We will utilize all the domains of language (reading, writing, speaking and listening) to support language acquisition and literacy skills. In addition to the obvious academic benefits, I hope to foster a sense of community, a love for reading, as well as confidence and pride in one's cultural and linguistic capital. I'm so excited to explore the possibilities that this project portends, and I look forward to sharing what I've learned at a local and regional level.

About my class
