Through using the surf portable lap desks, my students will be able to move around the classroom more comfortably to find space to focus on their individual work. Even more importantly, these desks will enable my students to work more effectively in groups by not having to worry about desks being in the way. Learning to work in groups is a large part of being a successful learner and these desks will continue to foster that in my students. In our class, we do a lot of breakout boxes which asks the kids collaborate with each other. This type of activity would become easier with more space without desks for groups to meet to think and work on the locks. The new seating would also support my students in getting the freedom to find their own space in the classroom to help them focus on their work that they often ask me fore. This would be an amazing help in starting the process of transitioning to more flexible seating full time in my classroom.
