Our kindergarten and transitional kindergarten classroom size grows every year and my students need a larger rug for our community learning area. A larger rug will help all of my students have a space to do their best learning and engage with each other in meaningful work and conversation. Currently, I have six students who do not have a space of their own on our community rug, and one child who cannot sit comfortably on the rug due to a leg brace she must wear. Having space for all the children will help with engagement, student partnerships, and positive behavior management. A community learning area is essential to a successful classroom. This new rug will also accommodate any extra students I may receive in the future.
