Our library has over one hundred titles of read-along audiobooks (a book with corresponding CD). However, the students do not have the appropriate devices to be able to listen to these audiobooks. The ability to listen to and enjoy these audiobooks will give all of my students, even struggling readers, the opportunity to explore a variety of literature and find a book that they love! There are so many benefits to listening to stories read aloud. Students are able to experience books that are above their reading level, as well as increase their comprehension. Listening, while following along with the text, helps the students to become more familiar with words, including new vocabulary. Audiobooks are wonderful tools not just for English Language Learners or students with learning difficulties, but for all students! This Listening Library will help give students a sense of educational independence and introduce them to books that they may never have otherwise found.
