The alphabet mats with playdough, as well as the letter stamps and ink, were included to help students build their knowledge of letters in order to prepare them for reading. These materials would be incorporated during literacy centers. Students could use the letter stamps to build their sight words, their name, or to practice building awareness of the alphabet. I need a listening station in my library to help guide students as they learn to read. I have included a set of audio books, as well as headphones so that I can create a listening center. In this center students will be able to listen to stories through headphones, while also holding the physical book and following along. To make the library more appealing, I have included two bean bag chairs to create a more comfortable environment.
