My three students in Essential Skills all have the exceptionality of autism. We work hard every day on skills to build our communication, social interactions, and academics across all subject areas. Using hands-on materials and manipulatives will help my scholars gain independence in the classroom and apply their ongoing skills in their everyday life. Sensory materials, such as the Feel & Find Sensory Tubs, stamps, Wikki stixs, and objects they can see and manipulate with their hands will give them a concrete understanding of the content being taught in Essential Skills. The materials I am requesting will help with assisting my scholars achieve their goals in and out of the classroom. Using specialized materials and communication devices increase their opportunity to express and communicate with other scholars, teachers, and peers.
