Our kindergarten and transitional kindergarten classroom size grows every year and my students need a rug for our community learning area. A larger rug will help all my students have a space to do their best learning and engage with each other in meaningful work and conversation. Currently, I have seven students who do not have a space of their own on our community rug. Having space for all the children helps with engagement, partnerships, and positive behavior management. A community learning area is essential to a successful classroom. This new rug will also accommodate any extra students I may receive in the future. In addition to the larger rug, I thought it would be great to have some wiggle stools in order to create some flexible seating for my students. Kindergartners can get extra wiggly, especially in the afternoon. These stools would allow them to keep engaged in their learning throughout the day.
