The students in my class have differing abilities. Many are non-verbal. The alphabet rockets and tactile alphabet letters can by used in small and large groups to expose all students to these concepts. A teacher may ask students to give them the letter A. The student can choose the requested item in an array of 1 to 3 depending on their ability. It is important for all students to have exposure to concepts of math and literacy. Some students communicate their learning through receptive means. As mentioned previously, a teacher may request a specific letter or number using the double sided magnetic tiles and the student responds by giving them the requested item. This helps the teacher know that that student is learning the concepts. These two examples are different approaches for teachers to gain knowledge of the students learning when the student is non-verbal.
