As a special education teacher, we are often the last to receive new technology in our classrooms. In my class, there are often three separate groups going at a time, and not enough technology to support the students who need to use it. This project will help give our students ipads and keyboard to use during their special education instruction. Often we are practicing writing skills including composing and editing what they have written. Rarely do we have enough computers or ipads for the students to be able to type and edit on. Also, we have many student who have a difficult time with reading. The ipads with be used with apps for audiobooks, that will allow the students to access grade level books so that they can improve their vocabulary and auditory comprehension, while still learning to read. It is impossible for me to buy items to cover all of my students' needs. This project will help give our students ipads they need for instructional tools. They will be able to have better access to a variety of instruction, an opportunity to learn new skills, and the chance to use the technology to show and practice what they have learned.
