Flexible Seating has been a popular choice for many years now. Research shows that children are more invested in their education when they are included in decisions and are comfortable in their learning environment. Teachers who have implemented Flexible Seating have seen great results! Flexible seating allows students to choose who, and where they work. Kindergartners need to move! Flexible seating allows them to wobble, rock, bounce, or lean, which increases oxygen flow to the brain and blood flow. In turn, this burns more calories and increases metabolism. It also helps keep young minds more alert and focused instead of being forced to sit still for 8 hours a day. I hope to facilitate in teaching my students how to take responsibility for and choose tools that will be most beneficial to their own learning.
