Students, especially those in elementary school, are full of energy. A standing desk in the classroom would give kids a chance to stand up, stretch their legs, and move around the classroom while learning. This can really help them increase their focus and learn more. It's hard for anyone to sit in place too long; giving my students a chance to move and stand will help them be more successful in school. Benefits of standing for part of the day include a break in a sedentary lifestyle, increased focus, increased productivity, and exercise. Long-term benefits can include lower risk of obesity, increased mental health, and reduced back pain. Because we don't have a standing desk for every student, it will be appreciated more. It will increase collaboration, give kids an opportunity to learn how to take turns, and create an effective reward for good behavior and achievement. A standing desk will be a great addition to our classroom.
