Help create a home away from home for students from diverse and difficult backgrounds. The materials in this project will enhance my students' school experiences by creating a safe and enriching classroom. Many of my students come from low-income households and spend their time outside of school helping their families. Though my students are still learning English themselves, they are often the liaison and sole English translator for their families. Many students in my classroom experience challenging situations including insecure home lives, navigation of new cultures, and more. Students' mental bandwidth is often overloaded and fatigued before school is added to the equation. The items in this project foster student learning by targeting students' basic psychological and safety needs. Through the food and classroom supply (folders) items in the project, the students would have access to a consistent and reliable environment with dependable class materials and snacks. The color printer would provide access to legible classroom anchor charts and vocabulary walls to support multi-language learners. The additional stability provided by the project items would enhance the students' classroom experiences and give them the opportunity to focus and grow in school.
