The materials requested will be distributed to our students during Red Ribbon Week in October. Each day of that week, students will receive a piece of candy with a drug free promotional message attached to it. Students will also sign the pledge stickers and participate in an activity which will display the entire student body's signed stickers.
Every student in our building will be exposed to the positive message of making healthy choices and remaining drug free. These messages will capture our middle schoolers' attention because each message will have the added value of being attached to a small treat.
My requested items will be used to reach our students with a positive supportive drug-free message. The candy kisses will represent our theme day of "Kiss Drugs Goodbye", peppermint will promote a "Co'mint'ment to be Drug Free", the twizzler candy supports the theme "Don't get Twisted up in Drugs", the dum dum lollipops will be distributed with the message "Don't be a DumDum - Stay Away from Drugs", the life savers candy will have a message that says, "Be a Lifesaver, don't let your friends do drugs", and the smarties candy will have the message "Be Smart, Don't Start."
The labels will be used to print the daily anti-drug messages for distribution to my students. The drug free pledge stickers for signing are included in the items requested. The shimmering red ribbons will be placed around our school along with drug use/abuse facts. The red beads will be given to classes with the highest percentage of participation in our ERW activities.
My hope is that this year's RRW will be memorable for our students and that they will apply what they learn to making healthy choices for a brighter future.
