I work with 50 bright, creative, and energetic students who need a help communicating their thoughts and needs. I am a speech pathologist at Sankofa Academy and work with students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. My goal is to enhance their communication with others and facilitate their ability to learn. This is done by creating alternative means of communication- not relying solely on speech. We can communicate with gestures, sign language, eye blinking, and with the use of pictures. Along with the help of teachers and families, alternative means of communication, we can help our students flourish.

About my class
