"Every student can learn, just not in the same way, or on the same day" ~ George Evans As a special education teacher that works with pre-adolescence and adolescence in an urban district, I find it invaluable to instill a motivation and perseverance for learning against all odds. I am a firm believer that if the student is not learning in the way we teach, then as the educator we must shift our way of teaching. In order to achieve this I use a variety of strategies and materials throughout the day. My group of students are categorized with a variety of disabilities and a multitude of learning styles. It is important for me to make connections with my students, advocate for them within their school day, and encourage them to advocate for themselves. By working together, my students are able to feel success in their day and leave with strategies to assist them in academics!
