To be honest, this is my third draft of a "donors choose" fundraiser. Once school started, I realized that submitting my previous draft projects would not be meeting the needs of the class I actually had. After much thought and consideration to my students, here is what my students need and would appreciate in our classroom. As part of this fundraising project, there are some materials that are required for us to use for word study (letters, stamps, stamp pads, playdoh), none of which I currently have! Headphones will be used for a computer based literacy program, used daily. There is not a lot of time for science, especially inquisitive discovery science, so the microscope is to encourage students to bring in items to look at. It's interesting, can be done quickly, and shows students there is more to our surroundings than what we can see! There are several book sets included to add to my classroom library. These sets are high interest and appeal to this age group. (They've already been asking for more Diary of a Wimpy Kid!) Another presence in the project are items for indoor recess. As of now, I have several sets of Connect Four, a couple other small games, and "Go Noodle" videos. That was fine for our first indoor recess, but I want more diversity and would eventually love to have more items that encourage creative play. There are also a few other random items that will either be given to, or used directly by students. I will also happily take book and Lego donations to add to our class collection! I'll be back in KY in December!
