My educational drama program consists of theatre terminology, history, scene work, acting, movement, character development, script analysis, performances, set design, props, sound and lighting. Lighting is an essential component to any theatrical performance. The students work hard throughout the semester memorizing lines and learning their blocking and choreography. They want to be seen by an audience. Without proper lighting, so much of their hard work will not be seen or appreciated. Theatrical lighting enhances all stage performances. It is the most important element of production design, yet is often underappreciated. A spotlight is a powerful stage lighting tool that can enhance even the simplest scene. We are in need of a spotlight for our drama program.
