My students are not big readers, but I am striving to change that. I want my students to see the murder and mystery that surrounds them in their city. I want them to want to read. I want them to walk away into this world knowing the rich history of Chicago and this is only part of it. I want to show my students that reading can open your eyes to things you never may have known. In my forensic science class, they are learning about past crimes and my students should know about the mystery that lived in their city. My southside students don't know about the incredible history they are living on top of and I want to change that. Reading novels that are content related is something that they rarely do and I want to expand their knowledge.
