Currently, we are learning to code using the software available on the computer. This has been a great experience. My students are passionate about and talented in coding so far and it's only the third week of school! However, I can see that they would benefit from the use of hands on projects. I want my students to experience coding with concrete objects. In addition to the two makey-makeys I have in the classroom, Robotics will allow my students to experiment with coding at a whole new level. They will develop maker skills, problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate as they work in groups to build AND code their robots. These skills will prepare them for the digital world in which we currently live.
