Creating a podcast that can be used to develop performance and production skills for our theater program allows students to learn practical skills that can transcend the classroom environment. Many of my students are below grade level in their reading and writing skills. Te podcast provides a judgement free opportunity to practice and perform. My students will have a performance outlet that will enhance their literacy skills through script writing and dramatic interpretation while reading scripts in performance. As well as enhancing interpersonal skills working together on projects, with sponsors, and audience members. Our intention is to publish 2 seasons of student written and performed scripts for In The Wings podcast a year following the school semester schedule. The students who have participated in the past year improved their self-confidence, auditioning skills, and ability to reflect on successes and needs for future auditions.
