Every day, my students are asked to complete lessons and activities on their computers, most of which have volume to accompany them. Multiply this by 20-25 students who don't have headphones and that's going to make a lot of noise, easily distracting those around them and myself who is often intensively working with a small group of students.
With a class set of headphones, my students can have a more meaningful learning experience where they could engage in the learning activities on their computers and remain undistracted from their surroundings. We ask each student to bring headphones at the beginning of the year, but often this is a school supply that is forgotten or easily broken within the first couple of months. I would create an organization system in my classroom to where my students would keep these headphones at all times except for use. This will eliminate breakage and the lack of headphones and my students can continue with the magical noise of learning again!
