I want students to be able to have a warm and welcoming environment. Studies show that having a 'touch of home' can help students be more comfortable in the classroom. Being not only new to the school, but to the teaching world I want to make sure to create a classroom environment of mutual respect and equality. This is why I am asking for things such as the posters and the globes. Learning about other cultures will only deepen students understanding of one another. I am also in need of the classroom rug. This is something that I feel every classroom must have and is essential for all of our large group conversations. On this area rug we will have read alouds, discourse, compliment circles, and social time.
