As a part of the LEAP Learning Challenge, this project aims to support students at their present level of academic abilities. My students in particular struggle academically and work tirelessly to bridge gaps between themselves and their peers. In order to make academic and social-emotional growth, my students access curriculum in a number of ways. Students have academic choice to show mastery of a skill. With the support of technology, leveled books, and sensory tools, my students will begin to reach their independent and grade level goals. Each of these items allows my students to access material in a manner that best suits them. They are then able to show growth and comprehension using the new tools from this project. The Weighted Blankets and Isolation headphones For Kids will allow my students with sensory needs to work more comfortably on various tasks at their desk or freely around the room. They will become even more eager readers with access to the First Little Readers' leveled books at their independent reading levels and will move from learning to read to reading to learn! I'm also asking for Scholastic Success with Reading Comprehension, Grades 1 - 3 and Blast Off to Reading!: 50 Orton-Gillingham Based Lessons for Struggling Readers and Those with Dyslexia to support my instruction and lessons. Technology is used in my classroom on a daily basis and students will use the Apple MacBook Air laptop to access various academic websites and apps that integrate today's technological advancements with education. My students love to use technology to record themselves reading to listen to their expression and fluency. They are also working on using computers for research! Many of my students use technology for assessments. This project will enhance their daily life at school by offering them a more interesting, more accessible, and more individualized academic experience.
