I'm so excited to bring technology into our classroom. The iPads, cases, and listening center have been thoroughly thought out, already have a place in our room, and will truly enhance the learning environment in our classroom. These technology pieces will be a great asset during my workshop time and throughout our day. With the iPads and cases, my students will be able to engage in leveled learning activities and participate in learning games to help with letter recognition, sound acquisition, high frequency word memorization, etc. with programs like StarFall learning, ABCya, and Teach Your Monster to Read. They'll also be able to read an abundance of leveled text, decodables books, and vocabulary activities with in our Wonders language arts program. Having the iPads in our classroom will allow us to have students take regular online assessments to monitor student progress more frequently and Reading Counts tests each day during workshop and small group time to help motivate the students who are already reading. Students will also use the iPads and cases during our math lab time where students will review skills that have been taught on math applications and listen to lessons to enrich their learning through our math program's Think Central website. The listening center will be a huge asset for students as they listen to a story on a tape or CD and follow along with their own copy of the book. The listening center will give my students another opportunity to listen to quality literature read by authors in different voices, as well as practice choral reading which will help students increase their fluency and prosody. My overall goal with the iPads and listening center is to teach these young students how to use technology as a tool and how it can enhance their learning.
