My students are currently in complete remote learning statuses. Reading has been a major challenge as students are not able to come in my classroom to read the books that I have. We have resorted to reading online texts. Which is different for developing reading lifestyle. Not to mention, the long hours they already have to spend looking at a screen. By having these books, my students will have access to physical books that engage them in ways that can't be achieve through online text. It will also give them ownership of books and help them build a positive reading lifestyle. In third grade, students transition from learning-to-read to reading-to-learn. This crucial development stage requires them to have reading skills that will prepare them for the rest of their learning career.
