Use of Scholastic Magazines is a productive way of supplementing the rigorous content that I already engage students with through our core curriculum. In the past I have used Scholastic Magazines to promote whole group discussion and reflection on topics that range from the impact of climate change to the United States presidential election process. Centered around current events, the magazines provide perspectives and age appropriate content that not only interests students, but builds their non-fiction reading skills and content area knowledge. Fortunately, the annual subscriptions also provide multiple means of representation; every two weeks, physical copies will be available for students and students will be able to access the magazines through Scholastic's online platform. These digital issues include options for the text to be read aloud, and other benefits that have the potential to support a wide range of learners.
