My kids will love having a rug to sit on in the front of the classroom. We do a lot of whole group activities to get them up and out of their chairs but then they have to come to the hard floor. They will using the rug for an inviting place to gather! Learning through fun is the best way! With fun learning games the students will enjoy reading more and be able to do more independent and partner activities! Lastly, this year I am starting a "calming kit" for my kids to use when they need a short break. This kit includes tactile items to help them refocus their thoughts and calm down from a stressful situation. The kinetic sand will not only be fun to use but a relaxation method to help them focus back onto their learning!
