Having the STEM materials will inspire my students to explore science, technology, engineering, and math in a fun, engaging, and creative way. This could lead many students to enter the field of science and make a difference in their learning. STEM activities allow children to become creative thinkers and problem solvers that may help them in their future. These activities will allow children unlimited opportunities to explore and investigate and will build a solid foundation for future learning. The students will use these activities each day to have the opportunity to be actively engaged and build confidence in their own learning. I would use the Lakeshore Manipulative Library, Building Blocks, Create-A-Chain Reaction, and Architect Design Blocks daily during my science lesson. Students will rotate through each station throughout the week. Students will use the Architect Design Blocks to build towers, bridges, and buildings, which is perfect for young architects in training. Students will use the Create-A-Chain Reaction to develop skills and understanding of gravity, force, motion, momentum, speed, properties of materials, the design process, and problem solving. Students will use the Building Blocks to create vehicles, skyscrapers, houses, and even entire cities to foster and build on their imagination. Students will use the Manipulative Library to twist, snap, and slide to create imaginary constructions. This will allow students to use their creative talents and eye-hand coordination while constructing complex objects and designs.
