These books challenge the reader to stop and think about a similar situation; maybe a time when they were having a terrible day and did not know how to cope with their emotions. Or how to not freak out when they hear the word "test". Or what to do if your friends are not interested in playing your game during recess time. Just like academics, social skills need to be taught! My goal is for each student to understand a lot of the thoughts and emotions whirling around in their heads, to show compassion and empathy for others, and to spread kindness. These social and emotional skills will help them become better friends, better learners, and better members of our community.

About my class
