Coming to the carpet during group instructional time is common in my classroom. It's how I try to gather them and their focus for the learning at hand. The materials I am requesting will make our learning environment a comfortable and nurturing one. Specifically, I am desiring a large soft rug to create a specific learning zone within our classroom. This newly created and comfortable learning zone will help in placing students near one another so they can talk, create & learn together. No more will students scoot too far away from the group, therefore minimizing their interactions with the rest of the class. Nor will they focus/complain on their comfort level, therefore compromising their focus and concentration with the task at hand. Instead, they will be comfortably placed within the zone of optimal learning with fellow peers just a hands reach away.
