My students will use the requested sensory table during instructional time and free time to gain knowledge of the kindergarten curriculum. During instruction time I will use the sand table to hide objects in materials like sand and/or noodles. Students will go exploring into the sand/noodles looking for the objects. Once they find an object they will do different types of literacy activities such as figuring out what letter or letter sound the given object begins with and then students will mark it on a paper so I will be able to assess their knowledge. This activity can also be done with middle or ending sound. This sand table will provide a fun and hands-on way of learning and would be used in a variety of instructional settings. I would also use the sensory table during math instruction for activities such as hiding a certain number of a given object (8 bears hiding in the sand) students will find the bears and mark it on a paper and without putting it back they will continue to look for the rest of the bears and finally students would have to count the total number of bears and write the number of objects they find. This allows students a hands on experience practicing counting and writing their numbers in a fun hands on way. During free time, they will be able to explore the tactile materials. They will be able to scoop, pour, measure, dig, hide objects and just have some plain-old have fun with their peers.
