My students need stability ball chairs, wobble stools, floor cushions, resistance bands and more so they are able to do their best in the classroom. I work with students who have ADHD, Autism and a variety of learning disabilities. It is often difficult for my students to sit and concentrate in a traditional classroom with regular chairs. Students are often wiggling in their seats, pushing the chairs back, standing up, tapping pencils, etc. Giving students flexible seating options will allow them to have the sensory input they need in order to do their best in the classroom! Students will be able to bounce, wiggle and get their energy out in a productive way that allows them to focus and work harder by sitting on the stability balls or moving on the stools. When students are able to concentrate they will learn more and be more engaged in their learning.
Students are able to do their best with different seating options to chose from based on their individual needs. Having a variety of options ranging from wobble stools to stability balls will give the the opportunity to advocate for themselves and chose the best tool for them.
