As an EL teacher, my job is to immerse my students in a language rich environment where they can practice the English language in a variety of authentic and creative ways. Many of these students do not have family to practice English with at home. At school, they need as many opportunities to speak, listen, read, and write in English so they can be college and career prepared. Research shows that students can foster their learning if they can wiggle and move. Students come to our class everyday wanting to improve their English because it will help them be more successful in other parts of life. I would love to be able to give these students opportunities to move and be active during this class because it is proven that movement promotes learning. Every student learns differently which is why having flexible seating could better support our variety of learners. I am asking for wobble cushions, wobble chairs, and kick bands to create an active learning environment. I am also asking for a learning rug to put in our classroom so students can huddle up and share their awesome ideas!
