I want our students to have an area at lunch in which they can "chill" and enjoy reading and reflective writing. Literacy at lunch promotes reading/writing for fun and enjoyment as students have choices and options to have ownership of their reading/writing preference. Many times they finish lunch and just sit there and have nothing to do. A lunch and literacy chill zone promotes an enjoyable way to read and write for all grade levels. The chill zone will have some carpets/rugs, comfortable chairs with pillows and plenty to read! Books, magazines, articles and some reflective writing with journals for students to enjoy.
