These materials will make a difference in our students' learning and improve their school lives by having resources that will help them when they are having difficulties within the classroom. These difficulties may be brought upon them by their peers (bullying), parents (home life) and/or their community ("street life"). When my students are triggered, they can react in an aggressive manner (yelling, pushing, punching). The stress balls would be utilized when a student cannot be deescalated. The stress ball states "don't stress it". It is a good message that students can use as encouragement. There are times when my students are triggered by home life difficulties and the games would be utilized to distract them from those negative thoughts and open conversation to build rapport. Playing a simple game with a student can go a long way!
Many of our students have difficulty with anger, stress and anxiety and these resources will allow them to express these feelings in a positive way.
We are teaching our students coping and social skills and these resources will allow our students to express their genuine feelings while being reflective. At TEACH we are working diligently to create a positive school culture. Thank you for your support. It will be greatly appreciated.
