The rug I am requesting will provide a special place for the children to gather for our morning meeting and community sharing time during writing and ELA class. Building a classroom community is extremely important for my students. The social curriculum which is practiced In order to be successful in and out of school would take place on our classroom meeting rug. I believe that the social curriculum is equal in significance to the academic curriculum. If students do not feel a sense of belonging and safety at school it is difficult for learning to occur. By donating to our project you will give a group of deserving 5th graders a place to learn and grow both academically and socially.
