I have dedicate the past 3 years to developing a rigorous 8th grade English program and grounding it in fun and relevance. Our school is a vibrant, biracial community on the Southwest side of Chicago. There is a significant Mexican influence on the school as we have a high immigrant population. We are large. The third floor of the school houses an overflowing middle school with upwards of 30 students in each class. Our students are energetic and inquisitive. They are excited by learning and it is easy to hook them into new units. We are new! Our school was built in 2004 to relieve overcrowding. It's a beautiful, eco-friendly building with a modern look. Today the classrooms are crammed full of students who come in from neighboring communities.
