Each week, every student at our elementary school participates in our Run/Walk Club. Using the app called Marathon Kids, each student keeps track of their own id badge that contains their personal QR code to scan after each lap is completed. The students set goals and keep track of the laps they have accumulated throughout the year. We are able to send a weekly report to classroom teachers and monitor progress and motivate students to stay on track to meet their goals. As the stud Studies have shown that exercise has many positive impacts for students academics and mental health. Our students face enormous stress in the classroom and in their lives. Exercise helps the brain get ready to learn but it actually makes retaining information easier. Research also shows that exercise can be the best defense against a lot of the common mental health issues that students struggle with. This simple act of running or walking each week can have enormous benefit to our entire student body.
