Something that I learned pretty early on in my teaching career is that my students typically come to me with very limited geography knowledge. I have always had a projector to help project world maps and local maps, but only being able to project maps does not allow for the unplanned occurrences in my classroom where I can't access my computer. Being able to immediately pull down a map, reference a globe, or have students interact with globes is a more efficient and more enriching approach than simply pulling up a screen of a map. I believe having maps more readily available in the classroom will help my students learn more about the world around them.
