Flexible seating gives students the empowerment of choice in their learning environment. Taking ownership of their learning as well as ownership in their comfort, will give students great pride and accountability. The students physical health is also increased, as flexible seating allows kids to wobble, bounce, lean and stand. These movements increase oxygen flow to the brain, as well as blood flow and increased core strength, which helps keep young students minds more alert and focused. We do a lot of group and partner work, flexible seating allows for quick and easy paring up. I am a true believer that learning environments have a direct impact on student achievement. This is my first year rolling out flexible seating, therefore the products I have selected will help me begin to implement additional seating options within my room. The flex-space ball seats and wobble stools will give students the opportunity for movement and get their wiggles out without distraction. The flex-space comfy floor seats gives students the choice to spread out and work at a lower level around the classroom. All of these products are lightweight and easily portable, as well as easily cleanable!
