With this purchase, my students will be given the ability to make choices at our Listen to Reading station. A child being read to is a very important part of learning to read and when given choices, students are far more likely to be engaged and to succeed. Currently, we have one large tape/CD player with several headphone jacks for students to use at our Listen to Reading station. This means that the students all have to listen to the same book and they all have to sit around the tape/CD player during Listen to Reading. Portable CD players and wireless headphones will allow each student to choose they book that they will be listening to. In addition to students being able to choose their book, these materials will also allow students to choose where they will be listening to the book at. Instead of having to sit on the floor around one large piece of equipment, students can choose a comfy place to enjoy the book that they chose!
