My students come from varying backgrounds and not all of them have access to technology at home. Unfortunately, the technology at my school is old and outdated. The iPads we had would often stop working mid use, which left my students very frustrated. In my resource room special education setting, we use iPads on a daily basis. We use them for testing, interventions, supplemental activities, reading and rewards. My reluctant readers are SO much more engaged and willing to read if they are reading a book from an iPad. I want to encourage that love of reading! Ipads are also used in my room on a daily basis as part of my classroom reward system. I teach multiple students who struggle to make appropriate choices during the day. When the students follow expectations they are rewarded with free time. Ipads are always the top choice for this time. It was disheartening to my students when they would work hard for iPad time to have the game they wanted not load correctly. By funding this project, I hope to strengthen my students love of learning through technology!
