The main goal for these students to is help them successfully develop and use the English language. Even though my classroom is specifically Math and Science, we will still be focusing on English skills. By having the carpet squares, my students will be able to gather together to have classroom discussions about concepts and interpreting math word problems. It will also allow for us to brainstorm ideas for problem solving and how to check our work, and facilitate math read alouds that will help build their vocabulary. Visuals and more visuals, will help these students connect meaning to the new academic vocabulary that they will be learning. Having the post it easy stick easel pads with the markers, will allow for me to create anchor charts that coincide with our lessons, and then easily allow for me to stick to the wall. Being the easy stick pads, saves time for me to place the anchor chart in the room and then continue teaching. Time is everything and we have so much content to teach, that I do not want to be wasting time with stapling anchor charts to the wall and finding supplies. I would also like to create a classroom library in my room. At the beginning of each day, my students will be able to read independently for 25 minutes. Having the bookshelf and storage bins will allow for me to organize the books by level, making it easy for the students to find a book that is the right fit for them. My classroom is also in a portable, so there is no built in storage. This classroom library will not only make a huge impact in my room but also in my student's lives.
