It is not always easy to discern with little ones if their tears are those of joy or sadness; a picture truly is worth a thousand words. Expression of oneself, through art, is often very cathartic and fun. There is no right or wrong, no grade to be achieved, or pressure to meet a set expectation. Art is freedom. Different senses will be explored as a variety of mediums are used and modified. We will discuss how color makes us feel, which is our favorite, and why. As the students are learning to control paints, form, and lines the goal will be to improve their pallets of words as they share and critique their creations. There grows within a being a sense of ownership and pride for what is made with their own hands. These are two qualities that each teacher is striving to instill within their students.
