My class is all low-socioeconomic background and they lack the family experiences many others take for granted. Our school is a Title one school. They all qualify for free lunch. I have special needs students that receive additional resources. Almost half of my students are English language learners. First graders work very hard to get their reading and writing skills where they need to be and having hands-on activities truly benefit everyone.
