These Continuation High School Students in Pittsburg, California have had difficult lives. Their childhoods have been filled with missing parents, domestic violence, and lost lives. In addition to their heartbreaking home-life circumstances, their past schools have given up on them, and they are on their last hope. Many of these students would gain the world from a momentum-building second chance. As a teacher, I bring in a unique entrepreneurial sprit. I, myself, am the founder and CEO of the Teachers Deserve More Foundation. I have learned the value of self-awareness and have developed a curriculum to get students to break unsuccessful mindsets with the hopes of finding their dreams. In the process, some of these students have caught a vision. There are a group of students who want to start a clothing brand called LYD Clothing. LYD stands for "Live Your Dream." Imagine that! A group of continuation High School students starting a clothing brand to inspire the world. What a story! I could see local newspapers catching on and carrying this story, but we need technology to get a start. Another group of students are excited to use the iMac and iPad build an app for an interactive classroom. These students want to innovate education from a unique perspective. These projects can change the world! Our school is very limited in supplies. We have six old, slow laptops for the entire school and no tablets. This iMac and iPad are just the beginning of a new life for students who are desperate to start one. Thank you!
