Children learn best in small guided math groups. You are able to reach them in a different way than in the whole group. You get to look them straight in their eyes and listen carefully to each word that comes out of their mouths. The students also can collaboratively discuss their math thinking with each other. They are all participants and not just spectators when working in small groups. The All Purpose Mobile Teaching Easel will allow me to teach math lessons at the rug and allow the children to share their math thinking in small differentiated groups. The children who are not with me at the rug will be working in small groups either at a Journal Writing Station, Fluency Station, or Math Games Station. The Pattern Block Design Cards, Giant Sand Timers, Foam Dice and Math Folder Games for grades K-3 will allow the students to engage in meaningful math activities while I am meeting with my small math groups at the rug. These math materials will help me plan for differentiated, standards-based, engaging independent activities for all my budding mathematicians.
