About my class

My students are active learners who need to move around in order to make the most of their learning experience. Multiple times throughout the course of a lesson, students will stand up, rock back and fourth or sitting improperly on their chairs. It is very hard to tell a student to stop moving, especially when they have so much energy which is a good thing! We would like that positive energy to go towards science and math. I am working very hard to create a culture of curiosity and self-directed learning that reaches all types of learners. By having seat cushions that are more comfortable, and standing desks, I believe that the students will have the ability to remain on task and focused for the rest of the year. Students that are happy, comfortable and engaged, are better learners. By allowing my students to choose seating that is specific to their needs, I am giving them the ability to choose what is best for them. Children are naturally different and diverse and this new flexible seating will help all my students!
